Hades II Scent Guide
Like many gamers out there, the new Hades II game has been keeping me busy. You could say the “Nocturnal Arms” have me in a chokehold. Much like we did for Baldur’s Gate III when it came out, here’s a handy scent guide for your very own playthrough of this epic game.
Heads up! There may be some light spoilers ahead for locations and characters in the game! Tread carefully.
Hades II Underworld Locations
These scents capture the deadly beauty of these locations.
The Crossroads
This location gets two scents: The general location is Realm of Shadows, notes of wet slate and pomegranate hearken to both the visuals and the lore of this place. However, nearer to the cauldron, we recommend House of the Witch; herbal patchouli, tart blood orange, and tonka bean will be your guide as you brew up your concoctions.

Training Grounds
While Realm of Shadows extends to this region, Adventurer’s Emporium is a good choice as you reflect upon what weapon and trinket you’ll use on your next run. Notes of polished leather, clove, and amber are sure to get you in the mood to fight the denizens of the deep.
Erebus
The melancholy quiet of this wooded glen goes well with Stonemoss Chapel—the notes of moss, stone, and general damp greenery are fitting for this zone.
Oceanus
Though not the ocean itself, the aquatic denizens here pose a danger. A duo-boon of scents may be needed. Brinewater Tides provides the oceanic flare, while Dungeon Depths offers the scents of primed gunpowder and wet marble.

The Mourning Fields
This location is notably drier than the previous two, making A Walk in the Woods or Stamina Potion an excellent choice. The cypress and sandalwood in Walk in the Woods offers a Grecian ambience, while the thyme and peppercorn notes of Stamina Potion may give you the additional boost you need to survive the trials.
Tartarus
The return to this location brings familiar sights and smells. I felt like The Library Scriptorium, leading to Hellscape would be good choices. The familiar scent of leather-bound tomes, and scrolls mingle with the hot remnants of the old House of Hades. The kick of chili pepper in Hellscape is a reminder of how spicy the combat can be getting through this zone.

Hades II Surface Locations
If you choose to go to the surface, a slightly different scent palette reveals itself.
City of Ephyra
A once bustling city, now ruins and ash. Den of Thieves makes this location feel lived in, crated goods and oaken casks strewn about the razed buildings.
Rift of Thessaly
If you happen to make it past Polyphemus, a seemingly endless fleet of ghost ships awaits you. Vivienne the Queen of Wraiths is no stranger to the undead. Vetiver and labdanum allude to the ghastly energy and endless darkness of the ocean respectively. May Selene’s light guide you forward.

Mount Olympus
The war-torn home of the Olympians begins at the beach and heads onward. Newfound Shores is a great choice for when you land, with its clean aquatic scent. Our very own God of the Crossroads, Cairn, is a fitting guide for your travels to Olympus itself. Pipeweed, trail dirt, and the gentle waft of brown liquor are sure to be welcome scents to the Olympians themselves.
Chaos
For the final location mentioned in this particular guide, we have the realm of Chaos. Both a character and a place, we think Ozul, the Sentient Forge is a fitting scent for both. Charged steel, ozone, a little bit of musk; all of it combines into a scent reminiscent of the endless expanse of this realm.
