The world of Mythryl, for which the game is named, expands upon the idea of a complex
fairytale/storybook world, like that of Once Upon a Time, but with a distinct Dungeons Dragons flavor and a touch of underlying horror. In this multistate, multicultural world, heroes and villains come in all shapes and from all walks of life. Prophecies and destinies are commonplace. The essences of gods and devils alike are bound in mortal avatars. Most importantly: evil lurks in every shadow – every shadow – and nobody can ever leave. Beyond the edge of the map, there are monsters, and this is the great trick of the powers that shaped this world.

When one thinks of the Domains of Dread, one envisions permanently sunless skies, defeated denizens, and very little hope. But in Mythryl, the sun shines, hope is fostered, and from time to time, to encourage more, it is rewarded. Nothing is delicious to the Dark Powers as broken hope, and generations’ worth is a veritable feast.

But hope, while easily broken, is not so easily destroyed, and no glutton, however great, can feast forever.
